YarnBuddy 2.4 is Now Available!

Today is the day! YarnBuddy 2.4 is now available on the App Store and Mac App Store. It’s been about a year since I last updated YarnBuddy, and I’m pleased to announce that updates should be coming much more quickly going forward. The main focus of this update is Interactive Widgets, Live Activity support, and major bug fixes and stability improvements. Because I know that many don’t read release notes, I’ve added them below. 2.4 Release Notes

After lots of work behind the scenes, YarnBuddy 2.4 is finally here! This is one of our biggest updates yet, packed with new ways to track your projects, organize your stash, and make the most of your knitting and crochet time.

NEW FEATURES

  • Interactive Widgets: Keep counting without opening the app! Increment and decrement your current project’s row counters directly from your Home Screen with new small, medium, and large widgets.
  • Live Activities: Keep your row counters handy on your Lock Screen while you work. When you start working on a project, YarnBuddy can offer to start a Live Activity so you can count rows without unlocking your device.
  • Yarn Stash Sorting: You can now sort your yarn stash by yardage.
  • Adjustable Pattern Highlighter: Customize the height of your PDF pattern highlighter independently for each page.
  • New Themes: YarnBuddy Pro subscribers and Lifetime users can enjoy three additional themes to personalize their experience.
  • Monthly Subscription: YarnBuddy Pro is now available with a monthly subscription option, giving you more flexibility.
  • Pattern Reordering: Drag and drop PDF patterns to arrange them in your preferred order on the project details screen.
  • Tool Stash Search: Quickly find needles, hooks, and other accessories in your tool stash with the new search feature.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • Redesigned Yarn Stash: A refreshed list-style layout brings a cleaner, more consistent experience to browsing and managing your yarn collection.
  • Smarter Backups and Exports: Automatic backups and data exports are now faster and more reliable, with clearer success messages and error reporting.
  • Image Optimization: A new optional feature in Settings → Data & Backups lets you reduce the size of images in your library, potentially saving significant storage space and making backups much smaller.
  • Improved Apple Watch Syncing: Reliability improvements help keep your projects and row counters synchronized between your iPhone and Apple Watch.
  • More Reliable Time Tracking: Fixed an issue where paused timers could unexpectedly resume counting after the app was sent to the background.
  • Easier Lifetime Upgrade: Switching from a YarnBuddy Pro subscription to the Lifetime one-time purchase is now more straightforward. You’ll still need to manually cancel your existing subscription in iOS Settings before switching.

BUG FIXES

  • Improved the accuracy of the yarn stash’s remaining-quantity calculations, making better use of the information available.
  • Fixed an issue where editing a project could unexpectedly reset its completion date.
  • Fixed an issue where the display could turn off even when “Keep Display On” was enabled in Settings.
  • Additional bug fixes, stability improvements, and refinements throughout the app.
